The sun was setting quietly over the horizon as Jess climbed up the small, inactive, volcanic mountain. She put a hand over her mouth as she yawned. After a full day of walking and training, Jess was already starting to get tired. Zubat had fallen asleep on her head and Haunter, her ghost Pokemon was silently at her side, its eyes closing sometimes.
Jess yawned once more and moved over to a small tree she saw on her left. She sat down and scooped Zubat off her head only to lay her head on a pillow she retrieved from her backpack.
She laid Zubat on her lap and Haunter floated over and laid down on her legs.
In a few seconds, her eyes had closed and she drifted to sleep. She was dreaming about her hometown, Viridian City and how she missed her Pokemon and her parents.

Storm had been walking for awhile, surveying 'his' territory for signs of trainers. Thus far, nothing had gained his interest. No one was sleeping, and there was no point in wasting his energy on those that were awake. But wait...what was this?
He chuckled as he approached the trainer, she'd fallen asleep recently. "Foolishness.." He thought to himself as he closed his eyes, entering her dreams. He didn't seek to harm this one, no, she seemed to care for her pokemon, sleeping by them.
Just to confirm that, her dreams were of family and pokemon. He almost smiled as he approached her and snorted slightly "What makes you different?" He mused out loud. She was different from the other trainers, he could sense it. She...cared. Was that even possible?

Jess felt a presence, not her own but something else, in her dream however she took no notice to it. She just looked up at her mother and Toby, her mother's Persian as they prepared a family barbegue. Steven, her father, trained with his Fighting Pokemon while all her Pokemon played together. Her Elekid and Treecko sat on her lap as Zubat clung to her head. Jess just laughed.
"What makes you different?"
Jess lifted her head up and looked around. She didn't recongize the voice - it wasn't her relatives, it wasn't the voices of her Pokemon.
What was it then?
Selena put Elekid and Treecko down and asked Zubat to go play. They wanted to stay with Jess, but obeyed their caring trainer.
Jess turned to the gate of her parents' foundation and left it until she was in front of the large woods - the direction in which she heard the voice.
"W-who's there?" she shouted.

"W-who's there?"
He held silence untill he let himself appear behind her. "Merely an observant spirit..." He stated calmly. "You're different than the others...why?[/i]" From what he'd learned of trainers, most of them were selfish and powerhungry. This girl was nothing like that. She seemed to honestly care about her team, and have a passion for what she did. Or so her dream told him.
He heaved a heavy sigh as he awaited her answer. He didn't know if his question was clear enough, but he didn't feel like saying any more. He'd made his point, and posed a question. She need only answer it.

"Merely an observant spirit..." Jess couldn't help but flinch as the voice sounded behind her. The hair on her neck stood up straight and she felt like she couldn't move. Maybe the spirit was doing this, or maybe not. "You're different than the others...why?"
"I... I don't know what you mean," Jess said as she tried to move her feet to get a good vision of the spirit, but she couldn't move her feet. She was trapped there and maybe in possible danger.

"I... I don't know what you mean."
He snorted as he walked around to stand infront of her, barely a foot away. "You care about them, your pokemon, not winning." He stated "Why?"
He was curious, if anything, no matter how threatening a jet black rapidash with a long blue-fire mane looked. He screatched at the ground with a hoof, before backing up slightly, aware of how annoyingly close he was. He wasn't aiming to scare her, just find out why she was different.

As she spoke, a ghoulish figure stepped out in front of her. It was a black horse - a Rapidash with a flaming blue mane.
Oh my god, Jess thought.
"You care about them, your pokemon, not winning." He stated "Why?"
"T-there's no point in winning. I don't like feeling powerful. I want to feel like I'm helpful. All my Pokemon choose to come with me. I've even helped Pokemon that don't belong to me." Jess said. While saying this, her courage built up. "I love my Pokemon and would die for them. A few years ago, I jumped in front of a Shadow Ball to protect my mother's Quilava. I-it put me in the hospital and still, ever since then, I've cared for Pokemon, big or small, strong or weak."
Jess gulped. "If you want to hurt me, go ahead. There's nothing stopping you."

He heard her speak, and listened inteantly, only reacting when she said "If you want to hurt me, go ahead. There's nothing stopping you."
He snorted and scowled slightly "What makes you beleive I seek to harm you?" He looked mildly offended by her words as he backed up even more. "Had I sought yto do you hamr I would have already used Dreameater on you, or just torched you while you were sleeping in the real world."
He looked away, stretching his neck in the process, since it had been getting awful stiff "Why do you suppose everyone thinks I'm going to harm them, and just jumps to conclusions and either attacks me, or tries to do so?"

"I... Its just..."

"I... its just... your voice... the way you look... the way you sought me." Jess gulped. "I just assumed you meant me harm. You asked me questions that no one has ever asked me... that's why."

He sighed "I could have woken you up, but my speech in the waking world is very limited. I was merely curious, I cannot help the way I appear." He took another step back before laying down. "Honestly, I don't know why I do it, maybe I just spook easy, and react poorly..." He mused aloud.
[blah, shortpost]

Jess looked down at the ground in front of her and the ghostly Rapidash.
"What's your name?" she asked it, looking into its snowy white and blue eyes. "Mine is Jess."
(bleh, short, sorry.)
